The Gaelic Hour presents an eclectic mix of programming that includes literature, the arts, history, cultural topics, music and features of local interest. Broadcasting since Sept 2005 the show has featured many high profile internationally known personalities including Sinead O'Connor, Tommy Tiernan, Christy Moore, Daniel O'Donnell and many many more. While much of the content has an Irish focus, other Celtic/Gaelic ethnic topics and music are regularly featured.
The show is divided into two hours. Hour one offers a magazine format presenting interviews and feature items from near and far. By arrangement with RTE, the Irish national broadcaster, the Sunday 8:00am News is transmitted, followed by "It says in the papers", a summary of items from the Irish Sunday newspapers.
The 9:00am - 10:00am hour opens with the news in Irish (An Nuacht) and then provides an hour of music that is a mix of traditional, folk, old favourites and some recent recordings. The influence of Irish and Scottish music and dance on Canadian culture is also covered.
The shows are archived since 2006 at
