Welcome to The Gaelic Hour website.

The Gaelic Hour has been broadcasting on CHIN 97.9fm in Ottawa since September 2005. In August 2006 a newsletter was issued and it now is sent monthly to just under 1,300 subscribers. The show was originally slotted over two day and in March 2010 moved to a two hour slot on Sunday mornings.

From the onset, one hour has been a magazine format and the second hour devoted to music. The magazine show is made available as a podcast and programs since 2006 are available in the Archives section of the site.

Many visitors from around the world visit and view the Playlist which provides a sense of the music that listeners experience on the show.

Guests have included politicans, authors, sports personalities, musicians, singers and  many local heros. Names like Christy Moore, Gay Byrne, Brian Cowan, Glen Hansard, Daniel O'Donnell, John Doyle and Shane Lowry have all been interviewed.

This website averages 100 visitors daily and many hours of listening are downloaded.

The Gaelic Hour is and independent production that is produced adn hosted by Austin Comerton. Austin emigrated from Ireland in 1988 and has integrated into the cultural, social and business community in Ottawa. The Gaelic Hour is partially funded by sponsorship and advertising and recently with support from The Friends of the Gaelic Hour.
